Refugees

Refugee law is an immensely important part of Canadian immigration law. While Canada has an international legal obligation to provide safety to refugee claimants, Canada has also historically benefited greatly by the settlement of refugees within our borders.

Refugees end up coming to Canada in one of three ways:

1. By making a claim for refugee status while already in Canada;

2. By being privately sponsored to come to Canada; and

3. By being sponsored to come to Canada by the Government of Canada.
